Time-management skills are a broad set of skills that help you manage the time you spend during the workday and ensure that it’s being spent as effectively as possible.
Importance of Time management.
The skill which can make you successful,yes time management is very essential and play major roles to get succeed.
Imagine if you get 86,400 Ruppess per day,every day but there is a challenge/condition you have to use each money at right time by efficiency.If you able to do this than you will get reward but if you unable to do that than you have to pay it back which is = 86400+Money unable to use at right time.
Similarly you get daily 86,400 second daily,but you don't have to count it at every time that how many time I have to spend in it. The analogy is used to show you that each and every person get only 24 hr in a day,the person may be prime minister,businessman,your idol and even you and me.The point what make differents is it proper allotment of time to important work.means proper use of time that you are going to learn.
Suggestions:-
- Wakeup early morning
- Set your tasks already pre-night.
- Set limits for what you’ll say yes to,say strictly no to unimportant,useless activity.
- Give yourself breaks.
- Organize your workplace,make it distraction free and neat and clean.
- Learn your patterns of productivity.
- Focus on one task at a time avoid multitasking.
- Make good habbits.
- Give Prioritize/Importance to your main and necessary tasks
Ways to manage the time.
In order to manage time,you are suggested to observe you daily routine,remeber and know,what you do each hour,note them than again for two days observe your daily routine and note it.Then analysis it what you are doing?,does you are doing important work or not?.
After this write about your daily routine's bad things on page and throw the page in dustbin.Than again take a new page and write down that" I will change my self,I will use my time properly.I will do my work "etc Write what you want to write.
Now According to your daily routine make categories of your work in 3 parts
1.Urgent and Important
2.Important but not urgent
3.Enternamint or not important and nor urgent.
Step 2
Stop procastination:- Do the work that you think that you will complete it later,take the action for which you feel fear to do it.
Give yourself short pain,if your mind say let's do later avoid it and do it now.
Start your day By completing the most important and difficult task you will feel proud on yourself.Complete it in anyway leave all the works for it but complete the work which you are procastinating.It will not only release stress,burden tension on your mind but also it will increase your confidence.
2.Decide a day before.
Deciding your task of Tommorow on taday will save you time and also energy.Decide what you will have to do in how many time for next day.
3.Enjoy the work don't do your work like it is burden,love your work you will feel nice.
Next point,
You should admire that we are not robot,we have to take break for some time,even robots/machine also need rest.
So following things you need to do.
1. Get enough and quality sleep.
You can sleep of 6-8 hour according to your need.
2. 10 minutes in morning try do mediation and exercise.It will provide more energy to your mind as well as body.
4. Block out distractions
First and foremost, turn off your email and social media in working hours. Make sure you minimize non-work distractions such as your cell phone, social media.
Working style
Use Do-rest principal,means do your work and also take rest.
Like Pomodoro Technic, in this technic what you have to do is to first decide how many minutes you can work in one hour.
For example you can work 45-50 minutes than you must take 15-10 minutes of break in starting to make habbit of work.As you make it habbit than you can change you capacity to work 1 hour and 5-10 minutes break.It is essential to not use these time to check social media if you are doing this means your mind is working and hence you unable to take rest,avoid it instead You can do following things:
1.Talk to your best friend.
2.Sit alone outside of home alone.
3. Walking outside.
Use these tips and work according to these tips for 2-3 weeks strictly.After this follow these which are as follow.
Plan your week on Sunday.
Walking into your workweek with a plan will help you focus on your top priorities. It also eases the transition from the carefree weekend mindset to a productive mindset.
Take a few minutes on Sunday to create a plan for your whole week. Increase your chances of success by breaking down your weekly goals into daily tasks. That way you'll be able to see what you need to do every day at a glance.
Set yourself up for success by scheduling low-priority tasks for Fridays and other low-energy times. Remember, your energy and creativity levels fluctuate throughout the week. Complete creative and demanding tasks on Tuesday and Wednesday. Schedule meetings/schedule revision for Thursday, when yours energy starts to decline. Take small break rest.
Prioritization
This is the act of assigning a level of importance to different tasks and ensuring that tasks of higher importance are accomplished before tasks of lower importance. Effectively prioritizing your tasks requires that you have a strong understanding of how long each job you have will take you to complete. Becoming skilled at prioritizing your responsibilities will also allow you to complete your essential tasks more efficiently.
Planning
Being able to analyze a task or a set of tasks and develop a schedule for their completion is essential. Effective time management requires you to have strong planning skills to ensure you can develop and apply an organized understanding of your responsibilities when constructing your task schedules.
Stress management
The ability to recognize your personal stress levels and make accommodations within your work can keep your level of stress low. Rewarding yourself, delegating your tasks and taking breaks when needed allows you to stay focused and motivated as you accomplish each of the daily tasks on your schedule. Understanding your stress levels will also help you effectively use breaks during your day and know when to turn down tasks that will overwhelm you.
Goal-setting
Setting defined goals for yourself throughout your work, such as accomplishing a specific task or a segment of a job, is an essential part of time management. Setting a series of realistic goals and a series of optimal goals allows you to feel each accomplishment throughout your day as a source of motivation and encouragement. Goal-setting can work in tandem with stress management to help you increase your efficiency on an hourly and daily basis.
Keep yourself healthy
It is very important even this may not seem obvious but looking after your health can actually play a huge role in successfully managing your time while in college. Practicing regular exercise can keep your energy levels up, resulting in a more engaged mind when doing schoolwork. Many also assert that getting adequate sleep at night can save college students time—this not only helps you avoid the time taken for afternoon naps, but it also can increase your alertness and decrease your stress levels.
Stay organized
Keeping your schoolwork organized can be a huge factor in saving you some time throughout the week, especially if you’re taking more than one class at a time. If you have separate binders, notebooks and folders for each class, you’ll quickly be able to find that sheet of notes for next week’s test or the article you planned to reference for your big research paper.
